OUR SOLUTION

We know that innovation, safety, sustainability, and ultimately, customer trust and confidence, are highly important to manufacturers. When Prophene™ is added to the formula, you can expect improvements in several areas of the manufacturing process as well as benefits to your customers and sustainability efforts.

PROPHENE PERFORMANCE IN TIRES

Our proprietary compound, Prophene, can be tuned to a specific manufacturer's application - in this case, tires – and once tuned, has proven to successfully improve the material’s performance, which:

• Increases the longevity of the tire

• Enables the tire to be produced with less material

• Reduces friction between the wire, belt, and rubber, thereby extending the lifetime

• Helps you compete in high-value segments

INNOVATION, SAFETY, & SUSTAINABILITY

What matters to you, matters to us

Improvements expected as a result of including Prophene™ within the manufacturing process:

Effect of Prophene loading in a wirecoat compound and in a tread:

  • Lower rolling resistance, resulting in improved fuel economy  – Average 50% improvement in rolling resistance yields 5% improved fuel economy (NHTSA DOT HS811154)
  • Used in place of silica could reduce long mix time and extra passes and eliminate the need for tread chimneys

Effect of Prophene loading in a wirecoat formulation, at high loadings in a tread formulation, and in a truck/aircraft tread formulation:

  • Lower Mooney Viscosity (improved processing)
  • Used in place of silica could reduce equipment wear and extruder shrinkage
  • May enable efficient processing of highly filled compounds (e.g. apex compound)

Tensile and Electrical Properties:

  • Improves the carbon black dispersion and, as a result, the performance
  • Reduces curing time and improved uniformity
  • May reduce heat build-up in (passenger, truck, OTR, aircraft, and race tires)
  • Increases electrical conductivity, which results in the aid of tire sensor development

Worn-out tires are 3x more likely to be involved in a crash than tires with sufficient tread depth, according to NHTSA.

From personal vehicles to race cars, commercial trucks to military vehicles, skid steers to aeronautics --

As a result of the inclusion of Prophene™ in the manufacturing process, you can deliver safer, better-performing tires to your customers.

• Increased braking performance, traction, and grip

• Reduction in cracks, fewer recalls, sidewall ruptures, and punctures, and more resistance to the Chip-Chunk effect.

Sustainability is embedded in all facets of tire production, from the product life cycle to the entire manufacturing chain.

It’s also an expectation and requirement from a federal regulation standpoint as well as eco-conscious consumers. Manufacturers must continually improve their processes to reduce waste and CO2 emissions.

  • Longer-lasting tires results in less waste
  • Improved rollability results in better fuel economy for customers and reduction in CO2 emissions
  • Reduction in manufacturing time results in increased efficiency and reduction in hazardous air pollutants (HAP) emissions
  • Reduces the frequency of retreading, which can be dangerous for commercial truck drivers and motorists alike
  • Slows down stockpiling of scrap tires, which reduces negative environmental impacts such as releasing hazardous waste
